POSITION TITLE: *Laundry Attendant

TITLE OF SUPERVISOR: *Laundry Manager

SUPERVISES: *None

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Laundry Attendant supports the Housekeeping Department by sorting, washing, drying and folding linens for hotel guest use.

LICENSING: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Hotel Employee License and work permit

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: *

  • Cleans, folds, and stores linens/uniforms in a timely, organized manner to ensure the hotel’s laundry and linen needs are met
  • Receives soiled linens. Sorts all articles by kind, color and degree of soil. Inspects all laundry and linens and records all damaged or stained items. Reports damages or loss of linen to supervisor
  • Operates washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines
  • Ensures necessary chemicals are added in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles
  • Reports needed repairs or unsafe conditions to the Hotel Manager
  • Monitors and controls laundry supplies. Minimizes waste within laundry facility
  • Promotes teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
  • Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 50 lbs. Able to push and/or pull wheeled carts with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Cleans laundry machines and surrounding areas
  • Must adhere to the company's established COVID-19 protocols
  • Other duties as assigned by Hotel Manager

QUALIFICATIONS: *

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Some laundry experience preferred
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Must submit to and pass an Alcohol/Drug Screen
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Frequently standing up and moving about the work area
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the laundry facility
  • Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • Frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Fast paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraints. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk and run. Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to guest and staff.
