What You’ll Do As part of our Professional Practices Unit, you’ll lead complex investigations into educator conduct, ensuring compliance with licensure rules and safeguarding student well-being. You’ll work closely with schools, families, and partner agencies to uphold fairness, transparency, and trust in Oregon’s education system. Your work will directly impact the safety of students and the trust placed in Oregon’s educators. Key Duties: Prioritize and investigate complaints related to educator conduct and student safety Conduct trauma-informed interviews with educators, students, and families Gather and analyze evidence, prepare clear reports, and present findings Collaborate with law enforcement, DHS, and other partners Maintain accurate case records and testify in hearings when needed Ensure investigations align with state and federal laws and agency policies View the entire job description here. What We Are Looking For Minimum Qualifications: Two years of recent (within the last five years) investigative experience which included gathering facts, collecting evidence, examining records, and conducting interviews to verify or disprove claims of suspected law violations. College-level courses in law enforcement, criminal justice, law, accounting, auditing, or a closely-related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to one year of the required experience. Desired Attributes: Demonstrated experience managing multiple investigative cases, including planning, evidence collection, and reporting. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats, including the ability to convey complex or technical information to diverse audiences. Experience handling sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and sound judgment. Familiarity with legal processes, administrative rules, and preparation of investigative or legal documentation. Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed, anti-bias, and equitable approaches in investigations or public service. Experienced in conducting effective interviews and producing clear, accurate investigation reports.
