About the position

The Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Project Kuiper will play a crucial role in defining and developing interfaces, managing requirements, and organizing technical efforts for a satellite constellation aimed at increasing global broadband access. This highly technical position involves program management of system-level development, integration, and testing, requiring a blend of hardware and software development experience. The TPM will work with multiple technical teams, tackle complex challenges, and contribute to the mission of delivering fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities.

Responsibilities

Drive complex cross-functional engineering trades to optimize performance, mass, cost, and reliability of high-performance systems.
Coordinate the work with teams developing other systems as well as assembly, integration, and tests.
Develop and manage technical requirements and interfaces that tie to system level requirements.
Identify and manage the conduct of trade studies and analyses necessary to understanding performance and other aspects of the design.
Manage the development of complex hardware and software development.
Optimize the velocity of engineering development through the design and application of mechanisms.
Manage timeline, dependencies, and deliverables.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of hardware, software, system integration and test development of complex systems across the full product life cycle - concept to production.
2+ years of experience in a technical lead, systems engineer, or technical program management role with significant experience architecting and integrating HW and SW into a complex system.
2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule.
Proficiency with at least one schedule tracking tool such as MS Project, SmartSheet or alternative.

Nice-to-haves

Master's degree in physics, electrical engineering, communications engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with optical systems.
Experience with high-volume manufacturing test methods, concepts and solutions.
Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware, Reliability, and Firmware teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work, and reach optimum system level trades.
Experience in high-speed characterization of devices, operation of high-speed and high-frequency test equipment, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
Experience developing high-performance systems for aerospace applications or systems operating in extreme environments.
Experience in automated testing and system characterization.

Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware, firmware, software) on time, to scope, with high quality.
