Allwyn North America is headquartered in Chicago. We currently operate the Illinois Lottery under a private management agreement while seeking other opportunities across the U.S. We also provide products and services to lotteries and their players in Europe and the U.S.

About the Team:

Our Corporate Affairs team develops and implements strategic communications and public relations strategies, tools, and tactics to help raise awareness of the Lottery, promote winner stories, and showcase the Lottery’s contributions to special causes in Illinois.  Our goal is to create a personal connection with the people of Illinois. Working as part of an integrated team of marketing, social media, and digital communications professionals, Corporate Affairs supports the company’s overarching objective to re-establish the Illinois Lottery as a leading brand within the state.

Position Overview:

Within Allwyn North America, the Bid Writer will be responsible for developing high-quality, persuasive, and compliant proposals, tenders, and bids that reflect the company’s strategic objectives and brand voice. This role plays a key part in supporting Allwyn’s growth initiatives by translating complex information into clear, compelling narratives that drive successful outcomes. The Bid Writer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure submissions are accurate, engaging, and aligned with Allwyn’s business goals and standards of excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Proposal Content Drafting and Refinement Support:
    • Draft, edit, and refine assigned proposal sections, ensuring alignment with the overall proposal structure and compliance requirements.
    • Review, edit, and refine content drafted by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to enhance clarity, flow, and persuasive tone, ensuring the technical accuracy remains the responsibility of the SMEs.
    • Works to help translate the strategic direction, differentiators, and key themes for each pursuit into the final proposal content.
    • Apply advanced persuasive writing techniques to strengthen winning themes and argumentation throughout the assigned content.
    • May help draft content to complete proposal forms/administrative documentation required for bid submission.
  • Content Library Support:
    • Provide ongoing support for the development and maintenance of bid content, with a focus on proficiency in Responsive (or similar) Content Management Software (CMS).
    • Draft new foundational content, such as ad hoc case studies and company narratives, for inclusion in the content library as needed.
  • Bid Coordination Support:
    • Work closely with the Bid Manager to ensure assigned writing tasks and editing windows adhere to strict deadlines and proposal schedules.
    • Verify that the assigned written content is compliant with the RFP instructions before final compilation.
    • May provide administrative or documentation support as needed, including organizing files, maintaining draft version control, and assisting with final production steps.
  • Additional Support:
    • May help draft and refine B2B/B2G content, such as conference presentations, op-ed articles, trade publication submissions, and other essential sales and marketing collateral, as assigned.

Required:

  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Bid Writer, Proposal Writer, or similar role in a competitive bidding or tendering environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in persuasive proposal writing and strategic content development, with an ability to craft compelling narratives that align with business objectives (experience in persuasive writing is highly valued over general technical writing).
  • Direct, hands-on experience using Responsive (RFPIO) or similar proposal automation and content management tools.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of tone, structure, and clarity.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality, and error-free deliverables.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in the Lottery/gaming or Information Technology industries.
  • Professional certifications such as APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with formal bid methodologies (e.g., Shipley).

Allwyn North America offers a competitive employee package designed to attract top talent. This is a 12-month contract position with a salary range of $75,000-$80,000, depending on experience.
